On January 16, the State Grid Corporation of China organized the feasibility review of the Gansu-Zhejiang UHV DC project, marking an important progress in the preliminary work of the project. As a key transmission project of the national “14th Five-Year Plan”, the project is the first full-capacity UHV flexible straightening project in China. After the completion of the project, it will add 8 million kilowatts of power transmission capacity to Zhejiang, support Zhejiang’s energy cleanliness, and help the economy and society green and low-carbon development.
Gansu-Zhejiang UHV DC is an important project to help State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power build a new power system provincial demonstration area. At present, the company has built a “strong main network with resource allocation, an efficient and interactive new distribution network, and a global service digital power grid”, created a new ecosystem of “market-policy-management” system and mechanism, accelerated the transformation and upgrading of the power grid, and systematically promoted the construction of provincial demonstration zones for new power systems.
As of the end of December 2023, the installed capacity of Zhejiang wind and new energy power generation reached 39.40 million kilowatts, accounting for more than 30% of the total installed capacity in the province, and completed the goal of Zhejiang’s “14th Five-Year Wind and Power Multiplication Plan” more than two years ahead of schedule. New energy has gradually become a new engine for green and low-carbon development in Zhejiang.
